Born in 1983 in Los Angeles, Roger Huerta's difficult childhood is often publicized. Growing up in between Texas, Mexico, and Central America for the first 14 years of his life was not easy, living in abusive households, foster homes and even alone on the streets. Better times came when he arrived in Austin, Texas, finally being able to establish some roots. Football and wrestling became important and so did his new adopted mother, Jo. After high school, Roger's wrestling skills gained him a scholarship to Augsburg College.

From there, he joined the Ultimate Fighting Championship in 2004 garnering a 6-2 record, never being submitted or knocked out to this day! Some of Roger's fame can be attributed to being the only MMA fighter to be on the cover of Sports Illustrated magazine (May 28, 2007, Volume 106, Issue 22), which displays a powerful image of Roger thrusting out a demanding kick during his victory over Leonard Garcia.
Utilizing his strong wrestling foundation, he has added jiu jitsu skills by training with former UFC champion, Dave Menne. Roger has also spent time in Thailand at Tiger Muay Thai, boxed with Freddie Roach, and worked out at camps across the Americas. Strength and conditioning training for Roger is handled by Justin Hagen, based out of Los Angeles, California.
In his free time and during off season, Roger enjoys spending time with his family and friends, dining out, watching movies, catching up on much needed relaxation, and having a good time.
